NVIDIA'S Nforce 680i is the best chipset for Intel Core 2 Duo that we've tried so far. You can check what it can do with memory here. Well, this is an Nvidian reference board and other motherboard manufacturers will jump on this bandwagon.

Asus is one and it already announced two such beasties. After Nforce 590 for Intel fiasco this comes really handy as 680i works really well.

The first Asus Nforce 680i is called Striker Extreme and supports Quad Coure CPU's and Core 2 Duo it has three PCIe 16X slots, two for graphics and one for phisics. It supports DDR 2 533, 667 and 800 mememory officially and unoficcially 1066 or faster should work just fine. The board has something called Extreme Tweaker, SupremeFX / DTS Connect / Array Mic / Noise Filter, LCD Poster, Onboard LED and Onboard Switches. This one is cooled with a nice heathpipe cooler and is part of Asus Republic of gaming family. You can check the rest of the details here but it will cost more than $ / €300.00 and is the overclocker / gamers one.

The second one is called P5N32-E SLI is a similar board with just a few things left out like these LED for example. It is cool to know that it supports - 1333 FSB or 1066/800/533MHz. the 1333 will be available when Intel launches Core 2 Quad or duo with this FSB. It is the 8 Phase Power Design and should cost around $ /€250+. You can check the rest of the specification here.

I wonder what the story is with the Asus RD600 for Intel chipset? It should not be long till you see this one as well. It is a mystery. ยต
