EVGA ignored 680i chipset bug

P29, P30 and P31 doesn't like add on raid
Mon Oct 22 2007, 15:51

THERE IS lightly simmering discontent in the EVGA bulletin boards over a bug in an Nvidious chipset on some of its boards.

Users have been moaning for months that raid add in cards from P29 to P31 do not work with the beast. Some say that when on board Nvidia RAID is enabled the Adaptec BIOS won't initialise. However if there is Nvidia RAID then Adaptec works fine.

Generally however the belief is that the 680i chipset they will not recognise any add-on raid cards although the previous Bios worked fine.

Reflashing so that they use the P28 works a treat, but it means that users cannot use 1333 Mhz support and other goodies. This means that reflashing is not an option for those who use 1333 FSB CPUs.

Posts about the problem have been lurking around the EVGA boards here and here for since May last year but no one from the company has posted and there has been no patch offered.

The common consensus is that EVGA and Nvidia are dragging their feet about fixing the problem. ยต

Edit these short rants a bit better Inq, or hire someone that speaks english as a first language. I have one of these boards. I Run the P29 Bios with RAID just fine using a Silicon image card and the onboard RAID. Just because a few people run into trouble with thier setups, shouldn't have you guys firing off like this. Have you guys seen Quad SLI lately?

Wait, what?

"when on board Nvidia RAID is enabled the Adaptec BIOS won't initialise. However if there is Nvidia RAID then Adaptec works fine."

What? So are you saying that Adaptec works with Nvidia RAID, or that it DOESN'T work with Nvidia RAID?
