THE FANTASTICALLY named Sacramento Bee is reporting that employees at Roseville may find themselves on the slow train to Houston, out of California, fast.

According to a Bee staff writer, not only will 500 local jobs be shifted to humid and muggy Houston, but that the rumour mill suggests Building R21 will be cleaned out and leased to others.

According to the Bee, the three story building near Blue Oaks and Foothills boulevards, currentl has a call centre where busy folk answer endless questions about PCs and the trouble and strife the bastard technology incurs.

HP has a real estate consolidation plan, reports the Bee, and the aim is to cut it by nearly 20% in 2004.

It's like DEC and IBM all over again, surely?

You can find the Bee buzzing round this story, here. µ
