Get your mitts on WIC DX10

Better get in the beta
Tue Jul 03 2007, 12:02
THE BETA sign-up for DX10 nuclear-tastic RTS World in Conflict is now open, enabling Joe Enthusiast to get his grubby little Arctic Silver-covered mitts on one of the most anticipated games of the year.

World in Conflict is a 'next-gen' RTS, both in terms of the graphics - it uses some super-duper Green Team DirectX 10 love to render the battlefield in equisite detail - and also in terms of gameplay, where the 'deathmatch' like multiplayer mechanic could see it becoming an online favourite.

You can discover all these things for yourself by heading over to this page at Intel, which appears to be sponsoring the beta. Those cheeky processor types.

Your pal Wily recently had a chance to go hands on with the game and found it rather to his liking. Playing multiplayer, there are a few little twists to the gameplay that make it rather more fun than, say, C&C 3. And certainly more accessible. Whether it could stand an onslaught from Starcraft 2, however, is yet to be determined. µ
