There will be no new ATI discrete chipset for Athlons

Yet. Discreetly

IT TRANSPIRES that the RD580 can support both Mr Socket 939 and Mademoiselle Socket AM2. According to our sources, there won't be any ATI chipset refresh for Monsignor Athlon until the end of the year. ATI is about to finish its RD600 and we are of course talking about a cardinal discrete chipset only.

The new integrated Athlon based chipset might see the light of the day by the end of the year but there won't be any triple PCIe 16X chipset from ATI for AMD CPUs yet.

Sorry. µ
