Enter the mobile retrosode

Knight Rider on your handset
Fri Nov 03 2006, 10:53
A NEW concept in made-for-mobile content has just been introduced by Brit specialist, Player X. Enter the 'retrosode' based on 1980s hit TV shows Knight Rider and Magnum, P.I.

These are a series one of two minute long tongue-in-cheek animations specifically designed for mobile handsets based on the shows that made Michael Knight and Thomas Magnum household names.

Player X is claiming that this is "the first time a major Hollywood studio has allowed its established brands to be taken to a new level in mobile."

The retrosodes will launch across all networks in Q1 2007.

"Retrosodes represent the best concept in short-form, made-for-mobile storytelling we've ever seen," commented Jeremy Laws, a senior vp with Universal Mobile Entertainment.

"We think this is a great opportunity to break through the clutter of repurposed content and do something fresh and relevant appropriate with some great classic brands."

The INQ would have thought David Hasselhoff of Baywatch fame would have been a better choice given his current popularity thanks to Pipex. µ
