Vista MCE remote spotted in the wild

Don't be a square, man

NOT ONLY DOES Microsoft expect you to upgrade your Windows-based media center to Vista MCE, it also expects you to fork out for a new Vista MCE remote control.

Missed by many, but spotted by Christopher Vendemio of Neowin fame here, the new remote is a significant departure from previous models.

It looks quite basic, with a very pale-white square look, and black cursor middle section - but in our opinion still looks better than the cheap-looking MCE 2005 remote.

A big green MCE button is still present but this seems to have changed from the original square-looking button, to something much more circular.

It should be noted that it seems to have much less iconography and text compared to that of the last MCE remote - but this could be due to it being apre-production model.

Despite its odd looks, Christopher says it wasn't too bad too hold, and "fits in your hand beautifully despite the squared edges". µ
