Semiconductor shipments to hit $19 billion in October

Chinese rise in fortunes
Tue Nov 29 2005, 10:46
ANALYSTS HANDELSBANKEN Capital Markets said it expects sales of chips in October to be worth $18.83 billion, a rise of nine per cent year on year.

And, said the firm, notebook PCs continue to drive growth with Chinese PC production up 74 per cent year on year.

The iPod, the Xbox, fat screen TVs and handsets are also boosting sales, the firms said.

Handelsbanken had expected a drop in chip sales due to the high price of oil but said that hasn't happened. It expects growth in 2006 to be eight per cent. ยต
