IBM intros boxes using Intel Woodcrest chips

BIG BLUE announced the X3550 server which uses Intel's 5150, 5140, 5130, 5120 and 5110 Xeon "Woodcrest" chips.

But although Intel announced its Xeons yesterday, these boxes won't be available until the end of August.

The slim boxes come with buses at 1066MHz and 1333MHz, support up to 32GB of DDR2 chipkill memory and options for open bay hard drive configurations.

The servers have two PCIe X8 slots, optional support for PCI-X adaptors, a 670 watt auto ranging power supply, dual Gigabit Ethernet, one serial port, four USB ports, and two video ports. ยต
