Former HP director says he is no leaker

Only told minor stuff to hack
Wed Sep 27 2006, 07:54
THE FORMER HP director who was outed for leaking stuff to CNet, says he didn't tell the hack anything that was not positive or public knowledge.

George Keyworth's chat to the hack was one of the leaks that was investigated by the Board by using dodgy tactics which resulted in the resignation of the HP chairman Patricia Dunn.

Now it seems that the extreme efforts that HP went to identify the leaker might have all been fairly pointless as his leak was only minor.

Keyworth has told Associated Press that he's been unfairly tarnished for his anonymous participation in a dull story about a board retreat which was published in January.

The story covered well known subjects relating to acquisition and computer chip strategies and a description of the board's tiring work at a retreat in the California desert. Keyworth apparently leaked that they were all pooped and went to bed at 10PM.

When the story was published, Dunn, fumed at the "new breach" and authorised another investigation.

HP hasn't released evidence linking Keyworth to any other media leaks, so it is possible that the real leaker is still on the HP board. More here. ยต
