THE PC INDUSTRY would be a far more boring place if people like Microsoft's CEO Steve Ballmer didn't exist.

So let's wish him many many more years with his hand on the tiller, as he steers the barque that is Vole-shaped to a happy land, far far away.

"Vista doesn't get done by three people in a garage in three days." [DOS]

"A great misconception in the tech industry is that most successes happen overnight." [Zune versus the Ipod]

"We are hell bent and determined to allocate the talent, resources, money, and innovation to become a powerhouse in the advertising business." [Google]

Over 1,000 employees at its Redmond campus speak Russian, he said. µ
