Asus expands Eee initiative

ACCORDING TO our old friend Internet Reports, Asus is not content to let its Eee PC be the end of its Eee brand - there are desktops and even televisions lined up to share the moniker.

The honchos at Asus have been speaking to DodgyTimes.

They say that a more traditional desktop system, the E-DT ,will arrive at some point in Q2 - having first been showcased at SnoBit this year - whilst the E-Monitor will be an iMac-esque al in one unit released in Q3. The E-TV will be a 42-inch LCD also due out in Q3, which will have a Linux media PC built in.

Quite how the brand cachet associated with a minimalistic sub-notebook transfers to a massive home TV we're not sure, but obviously someone thinks it's a good idea. The one thing the units will all share is cheap pricing - the E-Monitor will retail for $500, rather less than the cost of the Imac. µ

E-what?

I notice all the names have an E-prefix--the E-DT, E-monitor and E-TV. So what next--the E-Eee?
