NEC rolls out next gen Ultra Wideband tech

Band of hope
Wed Feb 08 2006, 10:02
JAPANESE GIANT NEC said it showed off an ultra wideband (UWB) transceiver at the International Solid State Conference.

The transceiver includes compensation circuit tech, capable of signal creation and processing on frequencies between three to nine gigaherz. It also has developed ultra low power supply voltage amplifiers, and can build the transceiver using 90 nanometre CMOS tech.

NEC said that UWB can transmit at speeds greater than using fibre optics with a max speed of 480Mbps. Present wireless technology is limited. While NEC did not say when products would arrive, it said UWB would be swiftly commercialised. ยต
