Mass layoffs coming at Nvidia

Hundreds walk the plank
Thu Sep 18 2008, 21:47

WORD REACHES US that 360 souls will be getting the boot from Nvidia today, as the company performs its first mass layoffs in 13 years.

Apparently Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsung Huang told employees that the layoffs would affect "every geography and every function".

We hear severance packages are fair "by American standards", but that it remains "a difficult time for everyone". µ

Work on Quality Control

Nvidia needs to work on quality control now that its products have so many hardware and software bugs. The managers reponsible should be removed and not everyone else. Also it needs to bring better products to regain market share and product lead which is currently enjoyed by AMD. Maybe it can buy Via CPU division and give Intel Atom a run.
