iPod Nano code still a bit dodgy

Two months in and it's still not fixed

A FLAW IN Apple's iPod software update is still causing headaches for users two months after it was first revealed on the company's online technical forums.

Apple released an update on March 23 which enables people to set "personal maximum volume limits" on their reassuringly-expensive and nice-looking machines.

When some iPod Nano users downloaded the upgrade, their device was no longer able to connect to iTunes through their PC.

Apple fanboyz have worked out a fix on their own. This is rather complicated, however, and took one Nano user five hours to carry out.

Users who called the support desk were able to fix the problem quickly but were told they had used up their one free, allocated support call.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald the way that Apple has handled the issue might cause it a few problems with the New South Wales Office of Fair Trading.

The OFT has told users to ring Apple's iPod help-line first if they have had problems, and if they get no joy there, they should give it a tinkle. ยต
