Gordon Laing from Camera Labs reviews the Nikon D 200, which is one of the best mid-range DSLRs available. In fact, it's so good that its only real competitor comes from Nikon itself. This 11MP digital camera comes with excellent build quality, no voice recording, but superb value for money and image quality to die for. You can use both Compact Flash and Microdrive as means of storage.
Love it or loathe it, Dell makes some cool stuff. Its casings have been for more than two decades now, some of the most well designed brand name cases around and the direct-seller has been the first to shed the beige colour completely. Extremetech tests the latest Dell Ultrasharp 3007WFP widescreen LCD monitor which is so huge, you will require a dual DVI card to make it work. To get the games going, you will probably need a SLI rig. It has very good response times, perfect for gamers and it has a huge viewing area, roughly equivalent to two 21-inch screens stuck together but without the bezel. An absolute beauty at two kilobucks.
AMDZone tests the smallest component in any computer. Something many tend to ignore; the thermal compound or paste that goes between your HSF and the CPU and is paramount to good cooling. The compound under test is the Coolermaster Nano Fusion. It is compared to the current champ, Arctic Silver 5 and some cheap thermal paste. Test shows that under load the first one is still better than the Nano fusion.
MVKtech gets its hand on the Hiper Type R HPU 4B580 PSU. It is a very peculiar model. Its package sets it apart from others. It comes in a utility box. Obviously someone at Hiper thought about recycling problems and the amount of waste generated by computers - which is a good thing. The PSU is SLI compatible, can accommodate up to 12 devices and is rated at 630w peak. Attention to details, like the BNC tupe connectors are what sets it apart from the others. MVKTech found nothing to rant about - quite rare for a PSU.
Sharky extreme pays attention to the Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 3100. Very stylish, loads of buttons and the usual classy signature of Logitech ornate what is a very good peripheral set. Competent both as a gaming and as an office unit, Sharky had no qualms about using it for long extended periods. Multimedia geeks will like its long list of features. Gamers may not like the fact that it is wireless and some might say that its design is so-so, but overall, the MX3100 desktop is the best desktop around. µ
