Storage Round Up: Buy Outs and products galore

Sun Microsystems is buying NAS firm Procom Technology's NAS technology for $50 million. Sun already ships Procom software with its Storedge 5000 NAS boxes. The deal is expected to close next month.

EMC shipped a mid range Centera box. Priced at around $100,000 the four node box scales to 2.2tb each node carrying four 320gb drives. The new entry level price point is around 35% down on previous Centeras.

McData completed the acquisition of CNT today. The deal was announced in January this year.

Engenio has certified the Brocade Silkworm 4100 SAN switch For compatibility with its 4-Gigabit per second (4Gb/s) fibre channel storage system and existing family of 1Gb/s and 2Gb/s fibre channel products. Emulex fibre channel host bus adapters (HBAs) and drivers are qualified for use with AMD Opteron processors with direct connect architecture in Windows Server 2003 x64 Editions. The Windows Server 2003 x64 Editions include 64-bit Emulex Storport HBA drivers. µ
