Sony splits workstation into two bits

Claims machine is for the HD world

A MACHINE Sony released today is for the bright future of HD editing, the firm claimed.

The Vaio RM1N consists of two hardware units - one containing processor, motherboards, graphic cards and the rest, and the other the optical chassis.

The machine includes an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 with 8MB of shared L2 cache, uses the P965 Express chipset, comes with 2GB of DDR2 memory, while the hard drive is Serial ATA RAID 0 array in the shape of two 500GB drives. The machine uses the Geforce 8600GTS.

The optical unit includes a 50GB Blu-Ray disk, plus DVD+RW+-R DL/RAM. It runs Windows Vista business version, and includes Adobe Pemiere Pro 2.0, and Win DVD BD for the Vaio.

The monitor isn't included. Sony didn't say how much this unit will cost. µ
