Advertising was misleading

FAILING TO keep your website up to date could get you into legal hot water down under.

According to the Dominion Evening Post, a restaurant in New Zealand has been fined about a thousand pounds for advertising out of date prices and dishes on its website.

Tony's Vineyard Restaurant in Henderson, Waitakere, was done under New Zealand's Fair Trading laws.

A Commerce Commission investigation found that many of the meals advertised on the website were not available any more. Most of the prices were so out of date that they were between 17 and 36 per cent cheaper than the actual in-house menu.

Apparently the Commission told the restaurant to sort it out, but it didn't do anything about it.

The Restaurant Association of New Zealand commented that the fine was a timely reminder for all members to update website information.
