AMD desktop market share about 27%

But there are problems
Sun Oct 22 2006, 13:41
THE one number we had been looking for in the AMD/Intel earnings silly season was market share. It was buried in a Business Week article on AMD earnings which is none too kind to the company.

The upshot is that its marketshare on desktop and workstations is up by a large margin according to Mercury Research.

Intel went from 82.2% marketshare a year ago to 72.9%, meaning AMD which makes up most of the rest is hovering around 26.27% of that market. ยต

* These numbers are based on Q2 figures. In addition, Via had surprisingly high sales for that quarter, pushing the AMD numbers down farther.
