DirectX 10 to make things up to four times faster

Says Microsoft
Mon Oct 09 2006, 11:25
DIRECTX 10 will accelerate some operations by as much as four times. This is what Microsoft said to developers.

The biggest problem of this super-promising statement is that it doesn't reflect on the frames per second mythology we use so often.

While DirectX 10's rendering mode and programming can speed up the same code as it finally solves the CPU overhead problem it won't mean it will speed up your final scores by four times.

We would hold our breath for some significant performance increase in real games as we are getting ready for some testing. ยต
