Scottish lad becomes a VP of AMD

Advanced 3D's John Byrne is VP of GPU sales
Mon Jan 15 2007, 11:46
A FORMER ATI salesman and the chap who ran Advanced3d for years got a new job.

John Byrne was offered the chance to to join AMD and he did it. From now on, he will be known as the vice president for GPU sales in the company.

Advanced 3D was the key sales machine for ATI Northern Europe. It controlled all United Kingdom and Benelux sales and apparently, Advanced 3D was doing a great job. John was the boss of this operation for years. He used to work for Nvidia as well, years ago as a contractor.

This is a big step for this chap and we wish him luck in his new position. He will have his hands full, as ATI is selling a lot of these GPUs especially to OEMs in the entry-level and mainstream market.

With the return of R600 he might start selling some nice quantities of super high end. µ
