"Get that story pulled", AMD spinner demands

Letter'o't'Day Shoot the Reporter game starts in earnest

Hey Charlie,

There is a story on the Inquirer today about AMD price cuts where you then link to our amd.com pricing page. We have not had any sort of price movement since October. That link shows no new changes... I know this because I manage the pricing page on amd.com. The only new thing on the link included in this story is our Quad FX products:

This one

[See also AMD stealth price cuts detailed. Ed.]

I also just confirmed with the desktop team and AMD channel representatives that there are no rebates.

Can we please get this story removed? It's wrong all over the place...

Thanks,
Suzy Pruitt

[We replied to Suzy Pruitt, PR manager of AMD "global communications, desktop and consumer" somewhere in North America. We pointed out that we have seen documents which incontrovertibly show that AMD is offering "instant rebates" in December, some of which replace price cuts originally slated for January 22nd 2007. We copied the reply to Jerry Sanders III and to Hector Ruiz. We suggested Suzy contact the editorial desk rather than a reporter who hadn't written the story. We also suggested she contact the UK wing of a PR company called Waggener Edstrom which appears to be spinning for AMD in Europe. She replied: "Hi, sure, I will do that. Thanks". Ed.]
