Geforce 7100 GS is plain old NV44 with a new driver

WE SPOKE with a few Nvidia partners and managed to figure out that the recently-announced Geforce 7100 GS is not based on any G7x marchitecture.

Some chaps that took off a cooler and read the chip mark confirmed that the card only has an old NV44 chip inside.

So basically Nvidia re-branded its product, updated the drivers and went out to tell the world+dog that they had produced a new low-end card.

The good thing is that the new 7100 GS card costs just over €40 in German etail and you can grab one of the Xpertvision/Palit GeForce 7100GS retail cards for €41+shipping here or in Alternate computer store here.

The alternative is Palit/XpertVision GeForce 6200TC, 128MB DDR2, DVI, TV-out, PCIe, Geforce 6200 Turbo cache card that sells for here for €32, plus the shipping cost.

The 7100 GS Turbo cache scam card with 128MB of real memory can address the massive 512MB memory and that is what people want to read on the retail boxes.

Just wanted to alert you on these sweet deals. Maybe the Californians can do something about it. ยต
