Mobile entertainment grows in the hand

$64 billion answer to question on everyone’s finger tips
Wednesday, 23 January 2008, 12:05

VICES such as gambling, sex and infotainment will triple the value mobile entertainment services from $20 to $64 billion by 2012.

The growth is expected despite excessive data services costs, poor network speeds and coverage and poor user interfaces.

Music will continue to lead the mobile services growth, expected to almost double to $17.6 billion, with games almost matching it in value of $16 billion by 2012. Mobile broadcast networks which are being set up in emerging markets will drive the adoption of mobile TV.

Current restrictions on adult material and gambling services will curtail growth but these are expected to ease in the next few years said the report from Juniper Research. µ

Okay, first, could we pass a law that all cell phones with net access need to have filters that cut down the viewing angle to about 30 degrees?
