Intel opens China shop

INTEL HAS OPENED the doors of its first flagship store in China.

The new 'Retail Elite' shop has been opened in the Chengdu, the capital of the Southwestern Sichuan province.

Chengdu is considered one of the most important industrial, economic, transportation and communication centres in the area.

The company's first foray into the customer facing side of China opened its doors on the second floor of the 25-storey Chengdu Digital Square.

The flagship location is will be used to showcase the latest range of Intel based kit, including devices based on its 45nm tech. So we reckon you can expect to see a lot of netbooks and other MIDs at the moment. The store is also expected to have technical staff on hand to help answer any questions.

Intel has said that this is to be the first of 16 retail stores it wants to set up across China, highlighting the growing importance of this country as a major source of income for the likes of Intel and AMD. µ
