HP's Fiorina more important than King of Spain, confirmed

But less important than Arnold Schwarzenegger
Tuesday, 27 January 2004, 10:55
A SURVEY SHOWED that HP CEO carlyfiorina+ has leaped up the Financial Times popularity charts to become the ninth most respected business leader in the world in 2003.

The FT survey is based on the views of 1,000 top suits and "opinion makers" worldwide.

But weirdly, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who Carly advises, is number two in the list, while the opinion makers also include two old age pensioners, Sir Lou Gerstner and former GE chairman Jack Welch.

Soon to be knight William Gates III is at the top of the list, while the other luminaries in there include Michael Dell and Sony's Nobuyuki Idei.

Carly only made it to number 22 in 2002, but her company has also jumped in the charts, according to newsletter Inside HP.

It was the 34th "most respected company", while in 2003 it leapt with one bound to number 29.

We think carlyfiorina+ deserves a pay rise and extra bonuses for these two accolades.

The King of Spain isn't in the list, so it looks as though Carly's apparatchiks were right about that one.

Meanwhile, IT magazine Infoworld lists HP's Shane Robison in its top 25 chief technology officer listing. He's there because of technological cross-pollination, apparently.

That's the buzz.... µ
