WHATEVER IS left of once-mighty PC outlet Evesham is up for sale.
Current owner PCC Technology, a Dubai based investment group headed by Tahir Mohsan, says it has "successfully" restructured the company. It bought up " certain assets" when it went into administration in August of last year.
Now, it seems not much is left but the tarnished brand which Tahir is trying to flog.
Richard Austin, the founder and former Chairman of Evesham, quit in January. In a statement put out by PCC today he is said to have said that, given the circumstances, "I feel that the best all round outcome was achieved. The directors did all that they could to save Evesham and explored every possible avenue to try and secure the company’s future. When it became apparent that administration was unavoidable I am glad that PCC were able to strike a sensible deal with the appointed administrators to protect as many customers and employees as possible. After all, it was these people that made Evesham what it was.”
Many of those people have now lost their jobs, however. PCC said placing the firm in administration allowed "many of Evesham’s staff to actively seek alternative employment whilst being employed, rather than being made redundant on the day of administration". Which is something, if not very much.
In the statement, Tahir Mohsan, is said to have said: “We are pleased with this investment and what we have been able to achieve, not just in terms of return on investment, but the structuring of the deal in such a way to minimise the adverse effects of an insolvency situation on consumers and employees alike. It shows just what can be achieved when issues are approached in a sensitive commercial manner.”
The Evesham brand is currently licensed to Geemore Technology Limited, which has been selling Evesham branded products since August. Mohsan said PCC is now seeking a buyer for Geemore Technology Limited. The company was offered to Austin who declined. If PCC can't flog it, more heads are likely to roll.
Evesham’s customers now receive no product support, though it seems they can buy cover from an outfit called Total Care and Support Ltd. µ
