AMD still thinking about New York fab

To dig or not to dig, that is the question
Wednesday, 15 August 2007, 13:09
A REPORT in the Albany Times Union suggested that AMD still hasn't made up its mind about whether to start building a fab in New York State.

AMD could start digging for chip victory as early as next spring, taking advantage of $1.2 billion the State is donating. But it has until the middle of 2009 to make a final decision.

The newspaper said that the fab, which will cost over $3 billion to build, could start churning chips out by 2011 or 2012. If AMD goes ahead with the plan, obviously. ยต
