A FIRM IS offering a six inch down light using LEDs which belts out 650 lumens at between 10-12 watts.

LED Lighting Fixtures said it is showing off the Cree based recessed light system at a Building Show, while products will start shipping in the second quarter of this year.

The firm's CEO, Neal Hunter, claimed the lighting fixture is the first to rival the output and quality of a 65-watt incandescent product at a reasonable price.

The product, the firm claimed, will last 20 times longer than incandescent lighting and five times longer than fluorescent bulbs. LED lights are, er, light and also practically unbreakable, the firm said. Conventional light bulb makers must be incandescent at the prospect of LED lights taking off. µ
