Sanyo to boost laptop battery lines

Business is booming
Wed Jul 04 2007, 12:56
JAPANESE OUTFIT Sanyo said it will invest an extra 30 billion yen ($245 million) in battery building.

The firm intends to boost its output of lithium-ion laptop batteries, perhaps because it's spotted a market opportunity.

That extra 'A' on the battery label can make all the difference. Especially when all the other letters are arranged in the right order.

Other Japanese battery makers are less fortunate.

AFP reports that Sanyo aims to increase battery production on the island by 10 million units a month. The firm also unveiled plans to build a new factory next year.

Sanyo already produces around 40 over cent of the world's laptop batteries. µ
