Nvidia puts money, hype on Stalker game

Optimised for NVDA, shock
Sun Oct 26 2003, 18:03
GAMES GOONS entertained by Nvidia at a developer gig last week are trying to give Valve's Gabe the goolies by getting excited by a game called Stalker.

The "Stalker" game is built by Ukrainian developers but so far all anyone has seen are demonstrations, although the scuttlebutt is it's optimised for the Nvidiac platform.

Yet staff close to Nvidia's plans say it's backing "Stalker" to the hilt because the game will support Nvidia like there's no tomorrow.

We're sure that if Nvidia had succeeded in outbidding ATI to get Half Life 2, it would have been plugging Gabe's game instead.

But we suspect the marketing dollars for "Stalker" are rather less than Half Life 2, so Nvidia is making hay while the sun shines.
