Rich oil state gets into semiconductor fabrication

THE SULTANATE OF BRUNEI is getting into making semiconductors, according to a report in local newspaper the Borneo Times.

According to the report, South Korean chip firms are set to open negotiations with the Sultanate in plans to build fabs in the oil-rich state.

The Sultan, Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah is the 29th in the line of sultans, established in the fourteenth century.

The Sultan is rich, but not in the list of the richest people in the world, according to Forbes 2003 list.

According to the Borneo Times, several South Korean firms are contemplating making chip fabrication plants in Brunei, as you can read here. µ
