PUNTERS WHO OFFERED to run beta test versions of Windows XP and report problems back to the Seattle Vole are still waiting for their full copies of the "operating system", according to reports. Microsoft has blamed the delay on the 'high demand' for Windows XP. According to betanews.com, testers were simply dropped by the Vole after XP was released to manufacturing. Discussion boards where voluntary testers could post their bug findings were shut down leaving the volunteers in the dark, wondering if their would ever receive their promised final code. A Microsoft product manager for XP Mark Croft acknowledged the delay, and said: "The shipments to qualified beta sites have been delayed due to the high demand of Windows XP in the retail sector. We have been assured by manufacturing that the Windows XP Professional and Home shipments should begin by early December. You should receive your free boxed product by the end of December. We apologize for the delay." You can find the betanews story here . µ
