Hacks cheer as PR bunnies get shipped out

Gutterwatch PR jobs to be outsourced to India
Sun Nov 14 2004, 14:28
SCOTTISH NEWSPAPER the Sunday Herald has some exciting news for hacks everywhere.

High tech PR spinners including Hill & Knowlton, Burson Marsteller, Edelman and Weber Shandwick are actively considering outsourcing the bunnies to India.

While this is great news for UK journalists, the Herald quotes a PR chap from Media House as pointing out that effective PR is done by "strong relations between PRs and journalists". This, said Jack Irvine, sounds entirely ludicrous to him.

But as PRs never seem to talk to journalists any more, never mind buy us drinks, or even return our calls, it all makes absolute sense to the INQUIRER. Perhaps they'll be schmoozing with all those Reuters folk outsourced earlier this year?

The Herald story is here. µ
