Sparkle shows thermal gadget for enthusiasts

CeBIT 007 Real-time thermal monitoring
Tuesday, 20 March 2007, 11:29
SOME LOVELY FOLK from Sparkle showed us one very interesting thing - a small PCB (Printed Circuit Board) for all those who like a window in their computer case.

It seems that all or majority of their future gaming-oriented graphics cards will support real-time thermal monitoring, which is a jolly good idea for the enthusiast crowd.

Added PCB supports GPU monitoring only, further development is planned

The depth of the final device won't expand by this much, final version will feature usable SLI

The firm is using your bogstandard engineering interface that is usually present on developing versions only. However, company is now bringing a variant of it via this new PCB, but only for monitoring the thermals of the GPU chip.

This add-on isn't targeting high-end graphics cards, but rather to make this feature available to cards from the mid and mid-to-high range of products, like current 7600GS/GT and 7900 series.

Sparkle will not introduce the product in its current shape and form, but rather introduce this novelty when Nvidia officially launches the G84 and G86 chips, which is bound to happen next month, just after Easter. µ
