Tue Sep 30 2003, 20:03
A REPORT IN a Canadian newspaper says that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police - we always get our man - are investigating a CND$76.5 million contract Compaq had for the country's military forces.

Canada.com reports that last Friday a man was fired and pricewaterhousecoopers was called in to help the mounted police figure out what is going in, in an intensive military audit.

A civil administrator was fired Friday - and the government of Canada is telling HP executives that it believes it paid too much for kit, and wants to investigate certain invoices it received.

As well as cooperating with the Canadian armed forces and the Mounties, HP has also kicked off an internal investigation, it has transpired.

Canada has not yet paid the full amount of money it owes to Compaq-HP, said the paper, in a report you can find by clicking here. µ
