D-Link offers 11-year warranty on 802.11n stuff

Bold if weird move from wireless equipment manufacturer
Wed Mar 28 2007, 17:41
WE HAVE GROWN accustomed to seeing ten-year or life-time guarantees on the higher-end of products like premium memory modules, USB sticks or graphics cards. Now D-link has stepped up to the table to claim that it will offera 11-year warranty for all its 802.11n products.

Weirdly, the networking equipment manufacturer states that the warranty is retroactive for all the previously sold 802.11n components. These started to arrive on the market over the past couple of months. The list includes Wireless routers with Gigabit ports, 10/100 routers, ADSL2+ router, access points, desktop and notebook adapters etc.

It's quite an interesting move. We wonder who will be next in line for raising the warranty period.Funnily enough we know several people whose routers died have in action right after their warranty expired. That extra year could be crucial. µ
