As businesses assessed the damage and began digging out, the picture wasn't as gloomy as they might have feared - WSJ, on the tsunami that killed thousands
SOME GEEZER came up with the idea that IBM should buy up AMD. He told a few of his mates and, hey presto! AMD's shares became hot property for an hour or three.
Whether there's any substance to the proposition, we can't tell right now. Some analysts are all for it some are against, but then again what do they know?
AMD was up 10.69 per cent to 7.56 at close in New York and has fallen back a mere .01 in after hours trading.
IBM was down, possibly as investors pondered the realities of blending blue and green. µ
seriously...if it were to happen...
AMD is like screwed with their releases, they just released their Phenom just 3-4 months ago and now Intel has their 45nm C2D's out, they can't be any screwed than this
It is fuzzy logic but I think that I can start to see a pattern emerging...

Big Blue must own enough patents to build G/CPUs out of dark matter and power them with dark energy. Maybe all that research will pay off in development one day.
You know what will happen.. IBM will buy AMD and sooner or later what will happen-- just and Lenovo brand, some Chinaman will come a - calling with several billion $$ and it's off to China for AMD, and the American jobs along with it...
I guess its one of those things, IBM would be mad to compete head on with Intel, unless they want to throw a lot of money into it. Personally I think they'll do better running in their own direction with Cell et al as that seems to be working pretty well for them.

Having said that, if you were to want AMD's IP and staff, now is probably the best time to buy...going cheap...
Well, you might just see this one come to pass, as there are no INTC licence issues to deal with as IBM has their own.

That said, IBM has done their best to get out of manfacturing entirely, only to jump in again.

Hmmm----interesting speculation---well done!

The market will definitely never cease to amaze me... This AMD buy-out by IMB idea has been floating around for months and now, just because some journalist mentions it, the stock jumps... as it will probably fall when the rumour is officially denied — if it is.

ATI could be considered adding up the red component, so we get RGB? But what flawor? Shall it be later sRGB or aRGB or what?
"possibly as investors pondered the realities of blending blue and green."

No blending.

Big blue + green = new horizons... :)

No blending. Upwards the big blue, downwards the green: ready (to) the new horizons...
