He is drinking from the INQwell when he should be drinking beer - Anonymiser
PROVING THAT mobile operators are finally making money out of 3G, Vodafone UK will be cutting the cost of 3G in half from Monday [4th February]. It will then go head-to-head with 3 UK in price terms.
So, it's great news. Well, not quite. Vodafone points out that its HSDPA network offering download speeds of up to 7.2Mbit/s is presently still only found in London and in major airports.
But never mind for £15 per month (instead of £30), you can now enjoy 3 GB's worth of data. You'll also get a free USB modem if you sign a contract for long enough.
For those who only occasionally use the internet, the company will offer a 30 day no commitment plan for just £20.
Vodafone also says that customers opting for the 24 month version of its Mobile Business Broadband tariff (5 GB for £25 per month) will enjoy six months free line rental (worth £150) and 18 month customers will save £75 with three months free.
Crickey, that means that in addition to a data tariff, you normally pay £300 per annum line rental.
Good news for all those heading for the MWC in Barcelona is that if you opt
for the temporary Vodafone Connect Abroad tariff, you can connect your laptop to
3G for £9.99 per 24 hour session.
All of this competition is leaving Spain's O2 behind in terms of data costs.
Which is a bit ironic really. µ

The Stick modem
I hope some mobile company in Indonesia do that. In Indonesia the only mobile unlimited is via "XL" (operator name). It offer GPRS (yes not typo, GPRS) unlimited @ 5,9 KB/s (in 2G Town, with 2G HP) OR 7,1 KBPS (GPRS over 3G Town / City, with 3G Cellphone) at 290.000 IDR or about 15 GDB. If you want download new DVD linux, think how long you will get it? If you became Microsoft beta tester (which each month rolling out new CTP build) think how long will you get it.
In My town Mojokerto, there only 1 (read: ONE) 3G (read: Third Generation not 3,5 G) singnal, and it not "XL".
The worst think of communication in Indonesia is it's lack of new technology. CDMA 2000 1X EV-DO that I read in 2003 till now there isn't near anyware (5 years, read FIVE YEARS). Logically everythink is cheaper here, except car and INTERNET.
