Memory makers spend a billion on joint venture

MEMORY FIRMS Micron Technology and Nanya Technology have announced a DRAM joint venture called Meiya Technology.

The firms agreed to chip in $550 million each by the end of 2009 to get the operation up and running and will begin converting Nanya's 200 millimetre manufacturing plant in Taiwan into a 300mm facility.

The firms said they will also share technology and other stuff. µ
