Software pirate gets seven years

THE MAN behind one of the US's largest Internet software piracy Web sites was sent down for seven years porridge last week.

Nathan Peterson has been told to pay $5.4 million in restitution and lose the proceeds of his scheme, which included homes, cars and a boat. Peterson, 27, admitted two counts of copyright infringement.

Prosecutors said Peterson flogged Microsoft and Adobe software at huge discount on his Web site. They claimed it was one of the largest cases of Internet software piracy they have ever prosecuted.
