INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION SEMI said that billings worldwide for semiconductor manufacturing equipment only grew by one per cent in the third quarter of this year.

That's compared to the previous quarter, with billings amounting to $11.13 billion.

SEMI is relying on China and Taiwan to account for more growth in the next two calendar quarters.

Stanley Myers, president and CEO of the organisation, said that the industry "continues to see modest quarterly growth in billings".

"While bookings appear to have peaked for the year, some regions, specifically Taiwan and China, are expected to experience significant growth given the strength of the first two quarters." ยต
