Apple cuts iMac prices in the UK

Now just $500 dearer than the US
Friday, 2 August 2002, 11:13
APPLE HAS MOVED to cut the price price of iMacs in the UK, just a few days after introducing them.

The kindly company has knocked £100 off the cheapest model -- the CDRW version, which you can now pick up for £1,149. Make a move for the DVD-playing version and you'll find fifty quid knocked off. That's now at £1,349.

But there was plenty of room for a cut.

Apple charges $1,399 for the CDRW iMac in the US. The equivalent UK price is still some $400 dearer. The Combo RDRW/DVD iMac costs $1,599 in US Apple stores; still some $500 cheaper.

As we asked here, are Europeans being ripped off by PC companies? The answer is still yes. µ
