AMD "Analyst Day" sliced, diced

HW Roundup Vertical Mouse gets an outing
Friday, 27 July 2007, 17:58
YESTERDAY'S ANALYST DAY in Sunnyvale took hardware and news sites by storm, just as we expected. The blizzard of codenames raised a few eyebrows too. If you want to read what AMD is planning and go through slideware, check out PC Perspective, or TechReport, while HardOCP spread the coverage between Bulldozer here and QuadFire, or 4-way CrossFire here.

Hardware Secrets published its one year analysis of the unholy alliance called DAAMIT, and placed whole lot of blame on the ATI part of the deal. However, with the internal struggle we witnessed during this takeover, we would advise you to take the reasons apart with a grain of salt. However, the fact that Nvidia has bigger market cap than AMD and that AMD is now valued less than it was pre-takeover cannot be overlooked.

Phoronix continued with AMD coverage, this time in relation to a less-than-satifactory part of the company offerings, the ATI drivers for Linux.

To get back on to the track of reviews, SysOpt grilled yet another power supply, but could not max it out because the lads could not find the components that could overload it. What PSU survived through this torture? Check out here.

Sticking with power, Legit Reviews came up with a giveaway of PC Power & Cooling Silencer Quad CrossFire power supply, with 750 Watts of power to boot. We have to say that it is unusual to see so many reviews and giveaways of PP&C products… since OCZ took over PP&C, there have been more reviews and giveaways of PP&C power supplies than in the whole previous company history.

SorX reviewed Club3D Theatron Agrippa, a sound card with a twist. The review was published on XSReviews.co.uk, so if you are looking for alternative sound card, take a look.

TekBunker published a review of Samsung 20" widescreen monitor, know under a very recognisable name SyncMaster SM206BW.

Hardware Logic reviewed Evoluent VerticalMouse 3, a very, very unusual product when it comes to pointing devices. If you feel like a fresh start and want to experiment a bit, take a look around this one.

MVKTech posted a review of JetWay Radeon HD 2900XT 512MB graphics card. It is a bit odd seeing JetWay coming into a graphics arena, but it is good to see another manufacturer around. To make things more odd, JetWay was actually the first AIB to send out samples of the 2900XT, including some to sites that are not on AMD's list of loveables.
