Elderly banned from the net

If you are over 70 you need a child

CARPPHONE WAREHOUSE seems to have a policy of banning the elderly from its broadband services.

The Daily Mail claimed that Carphone Warehouse is demanding that the over 70's are accompanied by a child to explain the small print in the contract.

The Mail cites the case of Shirley Greening-Jackson, 75, who sits on the boards of several charities who was refused a broadband connection because she was too old.

Carphone Warehouse admitted it had adopted an over-70 rule but it was not a blanket policy bought about because of complaints that staff had mis-sold products last year.

So rather than fire your workers for trying to diddle the elderly, you make it the problem of the old people who make up your customer base. This is short term thinking as the baby boomers start to get older, Carphone Warehouse is fast going to run out of punters.
