Fresh layoffs slated at HP

HP Outsauce

SOURCES INSIDE HP claim that further redundancies are likely after an experiment earlier this year in which frontline support was sourced to Canadian firm Sitel.

The team servicing HP enterprise support was, as we reported earlier this year, re-organised as a frontline and backline model.

Some of the frontline calls were diverted to Sitel then, and staff were told that if the experiment worked, the frontline would, in the jargon, be outsauced to Sitel.

The indications are that may well happen at the start of HP's next financial year, which starts on November 1st. And if that happens, layoffs are more than possible.

Further, the backline team that HP instituted may not be much longer for this world, according to the same sources.

They fear that once the Sitel shunt has taken place, HP beancounters will look at doing a similar thing to the backline support staff. ยต
