The 1010 has two interesting tricks that the usual gaming mice do not have. The first is adjustable weighting, the red blob on the top is a weight that can be pulled out and replaced. There are 3.5, 11 and 26 gram weights included.
The other slightly more interesting thing is the adjustable resolution. This mouse starts out with a 1600DPI sensor like many nowadays, and allows you to change it on the fly between 400, 800 and 1600. While Logitech did it first, the 1010 does it better. The twist they add is a visual indicator of the rez, the light by the scroll wheel changes color with the resolution giving you a visual indicator of where you are.
Overall, the two advances make it an interesting proposition. The color resolution indicator is what sells me, but mice are a very subjective proposition. It is at least worth a long look next time you are out rodent shopping.µ
