AMD is for efficiency, Intel is for performance

HW Roundup Corsair memory does the rounds
Tue Jun 19 2007, 11:00
PATRICK AND ACHIM took a look at some dual-core processors of today and came up with a surprising result, with recently renamed Athlon X2 BE-2350 posting some interesting scores against latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors. Have to say that with new 65nm DSL SOI process and only 45W power consumption (maximum TDP, bear in mind that AMD spec spot "Max. TDP", while Intel always talks about "Typical TDP"), and superior memory bandwidth - this just might be the best testbed for memory testing.

CameraLabs took a look at Olympus E-510, a digital SLR camera for the budget users out there. This segment has seen its fair share of Canon vs. Olympus wars, so if you want to see what is Olympus'es answer to EOS-400D (known to our American readers as Digital Rebel XTi), head over here.

OCC posted a review of NZXT Sentry Temperature Controller, highly useful piece of equipment for all enthusiasts out there. If you want to check real temperatures in your system, this just might be the real ticket to ride.

With some delay, TweakTown posted a review of Catalyst 7.5, first ATi Catalyst drivers that missed monthly schedule for at least one continent - drivers came online on June 1st after midnight CET. We hope that we won't need to wait for July 1st to get the 7.6 ones.

Techgage also kept things on software side today, posting tips for Amarok, one of best audio players for Linux.

To get back onto the hardware side of the force, Boot Daily posted a review of corsair's Survivor GT 8GB Flash drive… it is always worth to see did Corsair managed to improve its near-indestructible USB drives. This survivor also got tested over at Metku, so be sure to check it out, here.

Virtual-hideout posted a review of LapWorks Aluminium Desktop Stand, a good little stand for notebook users.

XSReviews posted a review of Revoltec Fightpad Advanced, interesting concept of gaming add-on.

Do you think the move was justified?
