EyeBud gives video Ipod viewers a decent screen

Makes them look like ‘Mad eye' Moody

AN OUTFIT that makes video gear for the military, eMagin has developed a wearable headset system that plugs into a video iPod giving it a decent sized screen with a higher resolution.

The EyeBud 800 is supposed to be like watching a 105-inch display from 12 feet away and create a "home-theater experience wherever you are".

The system will set you back $599, which is $200 more than the cost of a 60-gigabyte iPod and will hit the shops in the middle of the year.

It uses a separate control module, about the size of the iPod, which includes a rechargeable battery pack. One of the main problems is that you look completely daft wearing the thing. It is strapped to your head with the screen over one eye, which makes you look like ‘Mad eye' Moody, in the film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. You also have to see the movie with one eye shut which will mean you will develop a squint over time, you will also lose depth vision, we would have thought.

More 'ere.
